Deep Dive: Forearm & Hand - 12 CE hours (Tuition $250)
SOLD OUT
As massage therapists we know the importance of our forearms and hands; as well as the beating they take each day at home, at work and at play. And we are not the only ones who use these important muscles daily – many of our clients need specific attention here as well.
This course focuses on the muscles and other structures of the forearm and hand from an anatomy perspective, as well approaching both self-care and client treatment through stretching exercises for each muscle or set of muscles. Finally, we will discuss pathologies that affect these areas such as medial and lateral epicondylitis, carpal tunnel and osteoarthritis.
IMPORTANT: We may use massage tables for some of the stretching exercises, however we will not be learning or practicing any other hands-on bodywork techniques. Consider this course more of an interactive, traditional classroom learning experience. We will be clothed and sitting most of the time.
DO: Dress in layers for comfort. Wear shirts with loose sleeves, especially if long-sleeved, as it will be helpful to be able to expose your arms from the elbow down during stretching exercises.
BRING: A pen and notebook for taking notes.
LUNCH: We will take an hour for lunch each day. A refrigerator is available on site, however NO microwave. There is a Mediterranean restaurant in the building open M-F, and other nearby places to pick up a quick lunch.
Instructor: Melissa D. Cope, LMBT - NC #4552
